This is my clubhouse from my young days living in Dundee.
It is featured in my short story “Satan’s Clubhouse”

I made these costumes one Halloween. I sewed them by hand.

My First Car - 1962 Red Rambler American
I was shocked one day when I was watching a TV show called Third Rock from the Sun. Their family car was my first car.

My Plate - Nicosar is a character in one of my favorite science fiction novels.

Ray and Deb at the Taste of Chicago
Ray Nitschke!
Ray came to the opening of some of our Sportmart stores. He was a cool guy.

I must have thought this was an SUV with all the times I got stuck driving through muddy fields. I wish I still had it. I never felt as euphoric driving in any other car. I let it go because I didn’t know how to fix it and I could not afford the repairs. In my senior year in high school the gas hose between the gas cap and the tank has ruptured. I drilled a hole in the trunk and I filled the tank through a novelty horn. It always smelled like gas in my car. Thankfully, none of my friends smoked.

I got to golf a round with Ray Floyd. I’m second from the right and Ray Floyd is in the middle.
I met Chuck Yeager at a business lecture. He gave an excellent speech and he had everyone on the edge of their chairs. I shook his hand and thanked him for a great evening. I was surprized that he was such a little guy since I had always thought of him as a giant. That perception happened to me once before when I met Rod Serling in college. My job was to escort him from the stage out the back door to his limosine. He was so little he could have ridden me like a jockey.

In the summer of 06 I was sitting in my office in the Sears Tower when Jeff came by. He asked me if I wanted to go with him up to the top of the John Hancock building. A friend of his was in charge and he could get us up there. He didn’t have to twist my arm.
