Lumber Liquidators Project Highlights
August 2004- December 2005
- Developed and managed 2-month project plan to move the Colonial Heights operation to the new Toano building in the old John Deere building. That included phone numbers, PBX, networks, PCs and workstations.
- Presided over the I.T. executive steering committee.
- Took over the management of the Prelude ERP projects with our outsourced development team in Texas.
- Managed the Prelude decimal conversion project that had been stalled for a year.
- Managed Prelude projects to deliver custom reporting and labels for a process to optimize picking.
- Created the department testing procedures and managed upgrade of Prelude ERP software.
- Evaluated Biometric time clock systems, selected, installed and provided training for supervisors and employees.
- Installed outsourced I.T. Helpdesk to provide excellent response times and coverage for all I.T. related issues.
- Managed the repair and problem resolution for store hardware and software issues.
- Managed the development and redeployment of the Lumberliquidators.com website to an outsourced data center.
- Proposed and executed a plan to eliminate the customer unfriendly ERP interface as phase two of re-engineering the site.
- Built and launched the Lumber Liquidators Amazon.com site.
- Rebuilt product images for Lumber Liquidators and Amazon.com websites.
- Worked with various security companies to build proposals for building security and video surveillance. Selected systems and designed placement of cameras.
- Selected and installed security card system that restricted users by zone and shifts.
- Managed new store openings from the I.T. side and created overall project plan.
- Completely rebuilt the customer service department and elevated standards for servicing customers.
- Worked with communications carriers to reduce our rates, organize problem calls to improve response times and save money.
- Installed Exchange server and migrated users.
- Proposed, tested and started deployment of terminal services system that will allow us to use less expensive hardware and provide faster software upgrades and reliability for the stores.
- Secured our internal and external systems and data with a backup procedures.
- Worked with my predecessor to create documentation of Lumber Liquidator system processes for ongoing support and maintenance.
- Installed generator for Lumber Liquidator offices and telephone sales.
- Selected and installed VoIP phone system to service our customers better and provide reporting and follow-up for missed calls.
- Coordinated efforts between outsourced Prelude ERP and Fry development services for the new tier one website.
- Replaced aging UNIX server with larger server to support the increased processing requirements of the stores and the plant (not launched before I left).
