Columbus Day Queen
In October of 1967 Debbie’s oldest sister Josephine became Chicago’s Columbus Day Queen.

This is a photo of Jo and the Joint Civic Commitee of Italian Americans standing behind the desk in Chicago’s Mayor Richard J. Daleys office.  The Mayor was handing a coin to Jo when it fell out of the mayors hands and fell to the floor.  One of the people in attendance said, “See mayor - see how that money slips through your fingers!”  Mom and Dad  Fortunato are between Jo and the Mayor.
