9 Dunlap Street - Park Forest, Illinois
This was a kid’s neighborhood.   We had a baseball field behind our house and just past the outfield was a deep forest with creeks, rivers and lots of fields and trees.   There were dozens and dozens of kids living in the neighborhood and it was easy to get a few baseball teams together to play games all day long.
I don’t remember what movie or TV show was popular at the time but there was all kinds of Yankee and Confederate hats, guns, uniforms and canons for neighborhood wars.    We would form armies and head into the woods for war every day of the summer.

I lived in this house when we sent our first rocket into space.  We all walked up the street from the school to the teacher’s house to watch it on TV.

I won my first contest while living at this house.   It was a slogan contest for some company and I won 3rd place.   I stood on the roof of the Marshall Field department store in the Park Forest shopping center and I received my prize from.......what the heck was her name?
Lee Phillip!

My sister recieved a new bike for Christmas and she prompty broke her leg that morning after she fell over on the ice on the driveway.

One of my brothers fell out of the car when my mom took a left turn in the neighborhood.   Those were the days before seatbelts.
